Soh, Jacky

Jacky SohJacky joined the School of Engineering, Republic Polytechnic in 2007. He is currently pursuing Diploma in Industrial and Operations Management. Since secondary school, he had been actively involved in school activities, as well as undertaking leadership positions such as sports manager. 

Jacky represented the school to participate in the Supply Chain Exchange 2007 as well as Citibank NTU-NUS Financial Challenge 2007. He strongly believes that by joining those events will gain him a better overview and exposure of the supply chain industry and other related fields.

In 2007, Jacky joined the Logistics and Supply Chain Society-RP Student Chapter as a welfare head. Later in 2008, he was selected to be the president of the society. He enjoys planning and executing activities such as bonding camps, and also attending seminars and workshops for his fellow course mates. He believes that by bonding all the course mates together, it will result in great collaboration of ideas which will benefit them in their studies. Jacky perceives that learning has no end therefore he wishes to pursue further education upon graduation. He believes in lifelong learning and wishes to adopt this mindset in his life.

Jacky’s interest in logistics started since young as his family is in the maritime transport industry as well as a 3PL provider. His passion for logistics industry has been sparked by his father since young. Jacky follows his father and uncle to the port in the late night just to see the loading and unloading of the containers to and from their vessels. Jacky would like to use his passion and knowledge to develop it even more so as to make his parents proud as he is a filial child who would like to give back to his parent as a sign of appreciation and gratitude. This has been one of the many targets in Jacky’s life.

Today, Jacky is one of the committee members in the Young Professional’s Committee (YPC). With his strong problem solving skills which is being practiced in his current school environment (Problem Based Learning) he aims to come out with more events which will benefit as well as solve problems for the youths in supply chain field. He perceives that it is important to create a platform for the youth to network with the professionals in this industry. Those seniors in this industry can be their mentor in guiding them through sharing their working experiences. Such experiences are valuable as it will help them in advancing their career in the industry.
